Support Family Charitable Giving Effort (Friends of Scouting)

New for 2020!  The Family Charitable Giving Effort is a newer version of Friends of Scouting (FOS). This giving effort and the Program, Activities and Insurance Assessment (PAIA) are the primary outreach to units where we solicit direct support from every family.

To put it all into perspective, Units ask for dues during the year; the National BSA requires everyone to pay a $60 registration fee; the Council now has in place an annual assessment to help cover our costs to operate our 3 camps, the Youth Leadership Training Center and a multitude of services our Scouts and families receive from your local council. It costs the San Francisco Bay Area Council approximately $500 to support each youth each year. That number simply comes from taking our budget and dividing it by the total youth that are served, approximately 9,400 members. However, all the numbers aside, what we're asking is that every unit and family pay their “fair share” through PAIA and FOS.
